Haddon Township, N.J. – January 27th – With new consumer data protection standards migrating gradually to the United States from Europe, lead gen firm VSA Inc. is focused on staying ahead of the game.

This month, the New Jersey-based company announced a partnership with ProHIPAA, a consultation and training agency that guides businesses through the process of achieving full compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Though VSA serves a wide variety of markets, healthcare is one of the firm’s core specializations. And while HIPAA itself only applies to healthcare data, the act is likely to become the standard upon which forthcoming American regulations that apply to all industries will be based. Moreover, US states are passing state-level regulations which expand upon the HIPAA requirements, as can be seen in Texas with Texas House Bill 300, and additional data security laws like New York’s SHIELD Act.

“It’s extremely important to remain forward-thinking and anticipate how our industry could be affected by future regulations,” remarked Valerie Schlitt, VSA’s president and founder. “We’re excited about the value and peace of mind that the results of this partnership will provide to our clients.”

VSA isn’t entirely unfamiliar with what’s coming. The firm serves hundreds of clients, several of whom already make international calls to Europe. In the coming months, VSA and ProHIPAA will undergo an indepth Risk Assessment of all the firm’s data tools and processes, filling in all of the company’s knowledge gaps and making sure all their bases are covered.

“The Office of Civil Rights has noted that many HIPAA violations they’ve investigated could have been prevented if steps like risk analysis had been taken. VSA is demonstrating their care for their customers’ trust and data security in taking this process seriously,” said Rob Van Buskirk, Co-Founder and CEO of ProHIPAA.

Doing so will require not only vetting the company’s internal resources but its suppliers and managed service providers as well. Though not a quick or easy process, in the long run, it’s one that VSA knows will be worth it.

“Being fully HIPAA compliant is a tremendous step towards data security,” Ms. Schlitt adds. “It goes well beyond the steps that most companies in our industry are willing to take.”
