Passion for Connecting PeopleSmall Business Advantage, November 27, 2006 Valerie Schlitt, president of VSA, Inc. in Haddonfield, New Jersey has always operated her sales prospecting business as a full-time, home-based venture. "I've always had a passion for connecting people with opportunities," she says, which is exactly what her company does. Schlitt's company relies on a corps of professionals who make telephone calls to sales prospects on behalf of VSA's clients. What began as a one-person business in 2001 has evolved into a larger operation with as many as nine team members. Although having people come into her home to work is a negative, Schlitt says, the low overhead and availability to her two teenage children has kept her there. She also believes that "the upward earning potential is high." Revenues have been growing consistently at a double-digit pace, she says, as companies large and small turn over their prospecting work to VSA.
